Bar Watch

Do you run a pub or bar? Are you worried about the use of illegal substances on your premises?

One of the biggest problems that a pub licensee can face is the use of, or sale of, illegal substances on their premises. The trading and use of drugs can be difficult to spot, but it’s important for licensees to take a proactive stance on keeping their premises drug free, otherwise they may face losing their license, or even prosecution.

How can we help?

PADS K9 works closely with licensees, Municipalities, and police forces to help tackle drug use in pubs and bars throughout the country. Our highly trained drug detection dogs are able to proactively identify illegal substances, enabling the police to deal with the issue within the law, thus protecting your business and your law-abiding patrons.

K9 Patrol is able to help both business owners and the local authorities and police force in the following ways:

  • We work directly for licensees, enabling them to demonstrate to the licensing teams within the councils, and their local police, that they are taking the necessary action to protect their businesses from the use of illegal substances.

  • We work with these parties as a collective, patrolling the streets of towns and cities during peak night-time activity, which not only acts as a deterrent but also identifies positive hits and provides justification for police to undertake stop and searches.

If you’re a licensee experiencing some drug-related problems on your premises, we can help. You may also be aware of a nearby or neighbouring licensed premises facing similar problems, in which case you could work together to share access to a Drug Dog Detection Unit, therefore sharing the cost.

The Drug Dog Detection Unit could remain in situ for certain periods of time at each establishment, as a preventative measure on the door. They can patrol the direct routes between all of the premises involved, making people aware of their presence. They can also patrol up and down the queues outside venues, again detecting and preventing those with illegal substances from entering the licensed premises.

We also work with high profile venues that have chosen to take a proactive stance; they don’t necessarily have drug related issues but they want to ensure their premises remain that way.

The Bar Watch initiative is about protecting your license, your reputation and, ultimately, your business
